ETNA SUMMIT CRATERS

SCHEDULE

  • Meeting with the guide at “La Terrazza dell’Etna” bar.

  • After a short briefing, the Summit excursion will begin and it will take us up to 3000 m high asl.

  • Then, thanks to the cable car, we will quickly reach 2000 m asl and afterwards the trekking will begin leading us to the highest reachable level.

  • During the 2 hours ascending we will take 2-3 breaks in between to enjoy the view.

  • We will walk through lava caves that resemble moon landscapes and they will lead us bellow the summit craters.

  • As we’re ascending to take the cable car, we will visit the still smoking 2001 craters which is situated at 2700 m asl.

Excursion suitable to excursionists with good physical training, accustomed to walking in an adventure territory, so on sandy and rock debris ground, where there could be the absence of trails and where some parts of the path could be exposed.
Excursion also possible for kids from 10 years of age.

Pregnant women
No hiking activity is allowed after the third month of pregnancy for security reasons and physical integrity.

Heart disease, asthma and vertigo
All hiking activities at any altitude are not suitable for people suffering from these diseases, both for low altitudes and higher ones.

Contact Lenses
The use of contact lenses is forbidden during any excursions, above all for those leading up to summit area, due to the presence of volcanic ashes spread by the wind.

Changes of schedule
Excursions schedules are subject to changes or interruptions at the discretion of the guide if weather conditions, environmental causes, or volcanic risks can represent any source of danger.

Moreover, the guide has the authority to interrupt the excursion for any reason risking to compromise the safety and so the physical integrity of a single person or of the whole group.
