Full Description Summit Trekking Etna South
The Etna Summit Trekking from South is a demanding hike suitable for those who want an intense experience and are moderately trained. Children from 10 years of age can take part if they are used to walk in nature.
For those who are not satisfied with a ‘easy hike’ but want to experience strong emotions, the Etna South Summit Trekking is the perfect experience.
One must be able to move over sandy and debris-covered terrain, because the paths are not always there and the route can be exposed to the wind.
Our hike starts at the meeting point where you will meet our guide at the bar “La Terrazza dell’Etna” – Etna Sud – at an altitude of 1900 metres where, after a short briefing to adjust to the altitude, we will take the cable car to the first stage.
The Etna cable car will take us to the height of 2500 metres where we will be welcomed by a rocky, lunar-looking landscape where we can admire the 2001 crater still smoking at the height of 2700 metres.
The trek takes about two hours, with breaks to catch our breath, admire the view and take photos.
During the trek, we will cross expanses of ancient and recent lava flows towards the highest accessible altitude to observe the majestic summit craters.
After admiring the summit of Mount Etna at the height of 3000 metres and filling our eyes with the unique landscape offered by Etna’s summit, we will begin our descent to the cable car.
We will return to our starting point with a baggage of emotions and images impossible to forget!
