Full Description Syracuse and Ortigia Island

If you have chosen to discover the southernmost province of Catania and its natural and architectural beauty with the Siracusa and Ortigia tour, you will depart directly from your accommodation with the free transfer provided by the Etna Est agency.

On the way, our guide will introduce you to the history of Syracuse and give the most important information you need to know before arriving at your destination.

Once in Syracuse, the first stop will be the visit of the magnificent Neapolis Archaeological Park where you will immerse yourself in the endemic vegetation and discover monumental caves and ravines, including the uniquely fascinating Ear of Dionysius.

Also inside the Neapolis you will admire the Greek Theater, a privileged setting every summer for concerts by great international artists and theatrical performances by renowned companies, and the Roman amphitheater.

It will be like taking a journey through time among the paths of the Archaeological Park, where you will discover the ancient history of Syracuse, a city very different from Catania though so close, but both beautiful with their own peculiarities.

Last stop to end the Siracusa and Ortigia tour on a high note is the splendid baroque island of Ortigia, the pulsating center of the city, where you can visit the Cathedral, the Church of Santa Lucia alla Badia and the Arethusa Spring.

The Syracuse and Ortigia tour begins at approximately 8 a.m., when the free transfer will pick you up from your hotel or apartment to take you on a discovery of the magnificent city of Syracuse and ends at 2:30 p.m. at the starting point.

Syracuse and Ortigia Island is a simple tour suitable for everyone; it does not involve any kind of trekking but only a walk through the beauty of the archaeological park and the island of Syracuse. Children have a €10 discount on the participation fee.

The island can be reached on foot via bridges, so there is no need to take any means other than the one that will take you to your destination and back to your accommodation.
